Katie Casey

Which committee did you serve on for the first rotation?
Organizational planning committee.

What has been your favorite experience so far?
My favorite experience so far has been meeting with the president, Julie Patterson, and president elect, Sara Umphleet. I got to ask them questions about their role in IAND, their individual careers in dietetics, and their goals for the profession. It was great to learn more about our inspiring leaders in the organization.

What benefits has the program brought you?
I have gained confidence in my ability to take on roles in IAND and AND in the future through learning about the contributions that IAND makes to the dietetic profession in Illinois. Understanding the structure and responsibilities of the organization makes being a leader within the organization more accessible. Additionally, it is wonderful to meet so many dietitians with diverse careers that I can learn from now and in the future.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I see myself as a registered dietitian working in a community-based setting, making healthy patterns of eating attainable for everyone. I want to be involved in the Academy, helping to progress the profession of dietetics in some capacity. I will have maintained relationships with peers and leaders I have met in the pathway to leadership program and my program at UIC
