Advocacy Day

Each spring the Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics heads to the Illinois State Capitol located in Springfield, Illinois where we discuss important issues with our legislators. Advocacy Day planned for April 22, 2021 has been canceled due to the COVID-19. We are currently exploring options to host a Virtual 2021 Advocacy Day event. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

Your Role as an Advocate

Advocacy Day 2019

Advocating for the nutrition profession is imperative to our success. Serving as a Grassroots Advocate can reap these many rewards, plus so much more.
  • Capture the attention of elected officials so they listen to our concerns on issues of importance.
  • Raise the level of awareness about causes and matters at all legislative levels.
  • Harness thoughts and ideas of members to help create change within public policy.
  • Use your knowledge, insights and experiences to educate legislators about important areas of the nutrition profession, i.e., healthcare coverage, food access and licensure.
  • Make a difference in our state and nation’s health and nutrition policy.
