Illinois Academy Awards

Each year, the Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes outstanding professionals and students who have made significant contributions to the nutrition and dietetics profession. These prestigious honors celebrate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, professional achievement, and dedication to advancing the field of nutrition and dietetics. View past award winners to learn more about the distinguished professionals and students who have been recognized by the Illinois Academy. 

Winners receive a congratulatory letter and certificate signed by the president of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and are recognized in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, awardees are honored during the Illinois Academy’s Spring Assembly Awards Ceremony, where they receive a commemorative plaque in recognition of their accomplishments.

Award Nomination Process

The Awards committee is currently accepting nominations for all of our available awards. If you would like to nominate a candidate for an award or have any questions, please contact the Awards committee at [email protected].

Outstanding Dietetics Student Awards - Accepting nominations until November 10, 2026

Eligible Students must be currently enrolled in one of ACEND accredited paths of study and in good standing within the program: Dietetic Internship, Coordinated Program, Didactic Program in Dietetics, Graduate Program (formerly FEM), Dietetic Technician Program, Foreign Dietitian Education Programs. Students also must be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with their state affiliate indicated as Illinois.

Professional Awards - Accepting nominations until December 9, 2026

Eligible candidates are a member of the Academy and a member of one of Illinois three district affiliates. We will accept nominations for affiliate awards until December 9, 2026 with the application due by January 15, 2027.

Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Award

Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Awards
This award is given to a dietitian under the age of 35 by May 1, 2027.

Emerging Dietetic Leader Award
This award is given to a dietitian with 5-10 years of experience.
