Nominations and Elections

The Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is seeking nominations for open volunteer positions and elected positions within our organization for next year's membership year! This is your chance to bring your unique skills and talents to our dynamic team of dedicated individuals. Whether you or someone you know has a passion for public policy or a knack for social media, we welcome nominations from all backgrounds and experiences to fill the various roles. Together, we can create positive change and make a lasting impact across Illinois.

Nomination Process

The first step in the election process is the selection of nominees. We are a state rich with outstanding nutrition professionals and we encourage you to nominate your colleagues (or yourself) this upcoming year. Click here to view the recommended experience for each position. President-Elect

  • Automatically becomes President at the beginning of the next fiscal year.
  • Performs functions of the office of President when absent.
  • Develop program and activities for term as President, incorporating goals in Strategic Plan and assist with budget development with the Treasurer to accomplish the program.

Term Length: 1 Year President-Elect + 1 Year President + 1 Year Immediate Past President
Volunteer Time Expectations: 5+ hours/week

Council of Professional Issues (CPI) Chair-Elect 

  • Automatically becomes CPI Chair at the beginning of the fiscal year.
  • Responsible for the planning Spring Assembly with the Professional Development Committee.

Term Length: 1 Year CPI Chair-Elect + 1 Year CPI Chair
Volunteer Time Expectation: 5 hours/week

Nominating Chair-Elect

  • Automatically becomes Nominating Chair at the beginning of the fiscal year.
  • Stays in contact with all duties of the Nominating Chair.
  • Assist with soliciting potential candidates for each ballot position.

Term Length: 1 Year Nominating Chair-Elect + 1 Year Nominating Chair
Volunteer Time Expectation: 1 hour/week 

Secretary

  • Attends, takes roll and meeting minutes at the Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings. 
  • Files reports and proofread Illinois Academy documents as requested by President.
  • Stays in contact with the duties of membership. 

Term Length: 2 Years Secretary
Volunteer Time Expectation: 1 hour/week

Delegate

  • Attends Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and House of Delegates meetings.
  • Responds to communication from Speaker of the House.
  • Listen and communicate concerns of members to the House of Delegates.

Term Length: 3 Years Delegate
Volunteer Time Expectation: 15-20 days per year

Treasurer-Elect

  • Automatically becomes Treasurer at the beginning of the fiscal year.
  • Receive and have custody of all funds and securities.
  • See the full and accurate financial records are kept and reviewed.
  • Reports the financial status of the Illinois Academy to the Board of Directors.

Term Length: 1 Year Treasurer-Elect + 2 Years Treasurer
Volunteer Time Expectation: 1 hour/week
