Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is an annual shopping holiday that takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The day is dedicated to supporting local small businesses. It first took place in 2010, at a time when the economy was recovering from the Great Recession. In 2011 the U.S. Senate passed a resolution designating the day as Small Business Saturday, and similar resolutions have been made it subsequent years. By its third year the day was celebrated in all fifty states.
