STATEMENT

I believe that the role of the Delegate is an extremely important element of the national state, and district dietetic associations. Registered Dietitians and Registered Dietetic Technicians must remain aware of various issues that impact the profession both from the perspective of legislative issues as well as developments in healthcare and wellness. A Delegate is extremely important in that they are the voice of the members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Through gathering feedback from our members, the Delegates bring forth the perspectives and ideas of the membership and apply these ideas when the House of Delegates makes decisions that impact the AND, the profession of dietetics, and the public’s health. I believe that I bring value through my experience and longevity in the profession. I have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist since 1985. I have worked in a variety of settings including healthcare, academics, and public/community health. I focus on keeping my knowledge and skills up to date through volunteer involvement in professional organizations/projects, via teaching, and through reading current literature. I am an organized person, and also have strong interpersonal and communication skills. I am also very enthusiastic about our profession which I think would be evident in the work I would conduct if fortunate enough to be elected as a Delegate.
