The Academy's Policy Initiatives and Advocacy team is hosting the inaugural Nutrition and Dietetics State Advocacy Day on Wednesday, November 9 and Thursday, November 10 from 1:00-5:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) each day. Taking place virtually, the State Summit will assemble affiliate policy leaders from across the country for substantive and strategic professional development to help advance Academy and affiliate policy initiatives at the state level.

The following affiliate leadership roles are expected to attend: 

• State Policy Representatives
• State Regulatory Specialists
• Consumer Protection Coordinators
• Nutrition Services Payment Specialists

Public Policy Coordinators and Policy and Advocacy Leaders are invited to attend but not required.

The event will highlight why it is essential for the profession to be active on the state level, identify differences in federal and state government and advocacy, and help attendees become familiar with and utilize the Academy's various resources to help affiliates build an action-oriented and effective public policy team. In addition, attendees will learn skills to help them take action in conjunction with and in advance of the pivotal 2022 elections that will decide many state legislative chambers.
