Nominations for 2022 Election | Call for Candidates

The Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for the Illinois Academy's 2022 ballot. Nominations for President-Elect, Delegate (South), CPI Chair-Elect, Nominating Chair-Elect, and Treasurer-Elect are due soon. For more information about responsibilities and qualifications for each position please reach out to our Nominating Chair below. 


For the Office of President-Elect

  • Automatically becomes President of the Illinois Academy at the beginning of the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
  • Performs functions of the office of President when absent.
  • Stays in contact with all duties of the President and of other elected officers.
  • Develop program and activities for term as President, incorporating goals in Strategic Plan and assist with budget development with the Treasurer to accomplish the program.
  • Attend and report on the meeting of interest to Affiliate Dietetic Associations held during the Academy Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE).
  • Attend the Academy Public Policy Workshop in Washington, DC.
  • Handle the invitation and arrangements for the 50-year Academy member attendance at the Annual Assembly.

Key attributes include forward-looking, fair-minded, natural leader, and creative. 

Length of Term: One Year
Volunteer Time Expectations5+ hours/week


For the Office of Delegate (South) 

  • Attends Illinois Academy Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Academy House of Delegates, House Mid-Year Meetings and Area Meeting.
  • Responds to communication from Speaker of the House.
  • Listen and communicate concerns of members to the House of Delegates.
  • Formulate, organize thoughts, and speak effectively to groups.

Key attributes include motivated, organized, and strong speaker/communicator.

Length of Term: Three Years
Volunteer Time Expectation: 15-20 days per year


For the Office of CPI Chair-Elect 

  • Automatically becomes CPI Committee Chair of the Illinois Academy at the beginning of the fiscal year.
  • Program Planning Committee Chair for the Illinois Academy Spring Assembly.
  • Responsible for the planning and coordinating the Illinois Academy Spring Assembly meeting with the Program Planning Committee.

Key attributes include well-organized, creative, experience with event planning, and strong communicator. 

Length of Term: One Year
Volunteer Time Expectation: 5 hours/week


For the Office of Nominating Chair-Elect

  • Automatically becomes Nominating Committee Chair of the Illinois Academy at the beginning of the fiscal year.
  • Stays in contact with all duties of the Nominating Chair.
  • Assist with soliciting potential candidates for each ballot position.
  • Assists with submission of articles to the Bulletin requesting suggestions for potential candidates from membership.

Key attributes include resourceful, natural leader, well-networked, and strong communicator. 

Length of Term: One Year
Volunteer Time Expectation: 1 hour/week


For the Office of Treasurer-Elect

  • Automatically becomes Treasurer of the Illinois Academy at the beginning of the fiscal year.
  • Stays in contact with all duties of the Treasurer and assists with Financial Committee needs. 
  • Receive and have custody of all funds and securities.
  • See the full and accurate financial records are kept and reviewed.
  • Reports the financial status of the Illinois Academy to the Board of Directors and members.

Key attributes include financial-savvy, confident in bookkeeping skills, and well-organized.  

Length of Term: One Year
Volunteer Time Expectation: 1 hour/week
