Selection Criteria for Adding or Deleting a Web Site Link on IDA's Web Site

Recommending a Link

Selection criteria for adding or deleting a web site link to the IDA web site may include but not be limited to:

1. The major intent of the site should be to provide useful consumer information, rather than for promotion of a product, service or event. Any advertisement within the site should be clearly documented as such to distinguish it from content material within the site.
2. The content of the web site will be reviewed for quality of information, consistent with current practice by the Registered Dietitian (RD) and Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR). Web sites should include documentation of data sources or research cited. Professional credentials of those contributing to the web site content should be listed.
3. The nature of the content or services posted in the web site link should be basic, complimenting rather than replacing intervention by an RD or DTR.
4. The mission of the organization associated with the link should be documented and consistent with the mission of the IDA.
5. The site should list the main source of financial support, including funding or sponsorship by an organization. Supporting groups must uphold the mission of the IDA.
6. The IDA web site should include a variety of web site links rather than an exhaustive list of related links. Therefore, the suggested web site should not replicate other sites already listed by IDA.
7 The web site should state that it could respond to information requests via the Internet or traditional means (i.e., toll free information). A test of this process should be made during the selection process.
8. Entrance to the web site should not require membership or registration by the user.
9. Sites that collect information from visitors must have a privacy statement posted, indicating what information they are collecting and who has access to it.
10. The site should be easy to navigate.
11. The site should show evidence that it's content is updated on a regular basis.
12. Exceptions shall be made for links to newspapers and wire services as these sites often do not meet all of the outlined selection criteria but do provide current and useful information that will benefit IDA members and others visiting the web site.

Disclaimers associated with adding or deleting a link to the IDA web site
Although a selection process occurs, IDA does not endorse any specific product, service or organization listed within a web site.

Due to the changing nature of the Internet, IDA cannot verify the accuracy of all content of web sites included as links.

Recommending a Link

IDA members and web site users can recommend a link be added to or deleted from the IDA site. If you have reviewed the above criteria for posting links and have a site you would like to recommend be added or deleted, e-mail the website committee your request. The process to add or delete a link will be completed within 30 days of the initial recommendation and you will be notified of its recommendations.
