Sara A. Lopinski is a Registered Dietitian, cookbook author, and public speaker. For over 35 years she has worked in hospital settings in various roles including program director for the St. John’s Hospital Dietetic Internship. Currently she is employed by the SIU School of Medicine Division of Endocrinology as clinic dietitian. While at St. John’s, she had the opportunity to co-edit 2 healthy cooking cookbooks and develop a healthy eating program, Eat Well, Be Well, with a companion 101-recipe cookbook.

Sara has been married to husband, Jim, for 34 years. They have two adult daughters: Ann Gemberling and Lynn Lopinski. They live in Springfield. Her hobbies are quilting, reading and being walked by a spirited Dachshund beagle rescue dog. Sara was honored to be chosen as an IDA Outstanding Dietitian of the Year in 2006.

She is currently serving her second 3-year term as an IL Dietetic Association Media Spokesperson. She is a regular columnist for the Be Healthy Springfield blog and enjoys participating in an early morning monthly healthy cooking “gig” for the local ABC affiliate. Sara’s personal philosophy is that healthy eating is no accident and does involve some simple cooking; it’s all about choice and advance planning. Perfect eating is out; more mindful eating is in.
