Janet is a registered and licensed dietitian in Illinois and Iowa, based in the Quad Cities area. She is a member of the American, Iowa and Mississippi Valley Dietetic Associations, and holds a certificate of training in adult weight management by the American Dietetic Association.

Janet completed her bachelor's degree in food systems and technology at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and her master's degree in nutrition at Iowa State University. Her research focused on food quality and food security among elderly Americans. She completed her dietetic internship at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.

She began her career in the food industry as a product development technologist for a research and development firm in Plymouth, MN. Janet worked as a clinical and consulting dietitian for Aramark before moving to her current position with Hy-Vee food stores in 2003. Conducting media interviews for TV, print and radio on a regular basis, Janet also teaches community nutrition and professional continuing education class at Black Hawk College in Moline, IL. She practices her motivational interviewing skills as a facilitator for the American Lung Association's Freedom from Smoking program.

Janet and her husband Scott live in Moline, IL, with their three daughters, Carolyn (7), Jillian (4) and Lorelei (2).
