Greetings, WSDA Members,
We have just a few weeks left to enjoy summer vacations and all that sun-driven vitamin D! Before we know it, school will be starting, the leaves will be falling, and, best of all, WSDA meetings will be on the radar again! Yeah!
The Programming Committee is developing this year’s programs based on many of the subjects you have requested. In just a brief review of your areas of interest, it’s apparent that we nutrition professionals have a lot on our minds.
Among this year’s monthly presentations:
- Global Nutrition: WSDA member Ruth Dow will take us to Latin America and points beyond as she reviews some of our world's many nutritional dilemmas
A "can't miss" program- you won't see this anywhere else!
- Children's Nutrition: Always requested, we cover this topic from two angles this year. The first is "Nutrition for Children with Special Needs." Later in the year more on "Leading the Way in School Nutrition."
- Public Policy and Nutrition: The latest goings-on in Springfield and D.C. and how we can become a more influential body
- Insurance Reimbursement for clinical dietitians
- The Next Generation of Fats sponsored by Enova Oil
Women’s Health is the seminar topic for our 5-hour morning meeting on February 23rd at Dominican University.
And, because the McDonald’s Field Trip was so well-received last spring, we are planning another Field Trip this coming March. Stay tuned.
There has never been a better time to be a dietitian or to be working in the nutrition field. Whether you’re reading a newspaper or watching the news, there is a good chance that food, weight, or health through better nutrition will be in the headlines. People need support. They need (and are begging for) good information. And, because of that, our profession will continue to grow in value, especially as society begins to understand the importance of prevention over reaction.
Your WSDA Board is working to provide some of the many tools and networking opportunities that will enhance your skill sets. Please share your ideas and provide feedback to us so that we can all work together to bring exciting programs to you and make the West Suburban Dietetic Association a valuable part of your professional life.
See you at .the meetings
