South Suburban Dietetic Association - President's Message President: Tracy TerBorg, RD, LDN    SSDA President’s Message Fall 2008 Posted: 8/9/2008 Dear SSDA area Dietetic Professionals, Interns, and Students, The past year for SSDA was a great one. We learned many new things through the exceptional speakers that came to the meetings. The year also brought new locations in Orland Park and Tinley Park. The board members and committees worked hard to make the past year outstanding. Thank you for your time. The upcoming year will be an exciting one. The majority of our meetings will be at the Orland Park Public Library. SSDA members that are residents of Orland Park and would like to help us secure the meeting room, please let Mary VanMeter, Suzanne Delrose or I know. Thank you! Our meetings will continue to include refreshments and networking and of course dynamic speakers. This approaching year we can look forward to topics like: “Is Stress Making You Crazy”, “Eyeing and Buying Seafood”, and “Caring at the End-of-Life.” SSDA will also be giving away many registrations to educational seminars. At the November dinner meeting, 5 lucky members will win registrations to “Innovation Concepts in Nutrition” an educational seminar presented in February by Ingalls Memorial Hospital Interns. Another drawing will take place at the January meeting when 3 IDA Spring Assembly registrations will be given away. New for this year, one member will receive (drum roll please) a paid in full registration to FNCE in Denver, Colorado! The winner will also receive paid airfare and hotel fees. This awesome opportunity will be given away at the May dinner meeting. In order to qualify, the member will need to attend 5 out of 6 SSDA meetings. This year SSDA would really like to increase membership, and we need your help! If you refer someone to SSDA, and they join, we would like to send you to a dinner meeting for free. (Value $15) Please make sure the person you refer writes your name on their membership form. Let your friends and co-workers know that the membership form is available online at www.eatrightillinois.org under districts. They can also come to the first meeting and fill out the form. I can’t wait to see how many new members we will have! SSDA will also be focusing on contributing to the Community. We will be asking our members to really think about volunteering at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. We plan on going as a group and will work on applying for continuing education credit for you. Let’s all get ready for a fun and exciting new year as SSDA continues to provided you with affordable continuing education, professional networking, and a place to meet new friends.
