The 2007 - 2008 membership year has been a very busy time for CDDA! Our learning topics were diverse and included cooking with salt-free seasonings, neuropathy related to weight loss surgery, food allergens and new labeling requirements, nutrition care process, Vitamin D, legislature, and functional foods.
Congratulations again to recent award winners who were recognized at our April meeting: Charlyn Fargo, Sara Lopinski, Karen Little, Connie Bussard, and Jananne Finck. For information on leadership awards given by ADA and IDA, contact Cheryl Burns at cheryl.burns@st-johns.org.
Thank you to all of you who helped with the National Nutrition Month activity in March. With the help of Gayle Jennings, Micca Donohoo, and Cheryl Burns, we successfully promoted the high fiber diet at this year’s IDPH Health Fair at the IL State Capital building.
We are in the process of making some important changes to the CDDA bylaws. At the suggestion of a member, the Board of Directors considered three changes to our current bylaws: 1. Eliminate the nominating committee and retain the nominating chair only; 2. Waive membership fee for the board of directors; 3. Waive membership fee for meeting speakers. Based on a two-thirds majority, proposal numbers 1 and 2 were accepted, and number 3 was rejected. I will proceed with the process of updating our current bylaws. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.
Finally, thank you to the 2007 – 2008 CDDA Board of Directors. The 2008 – 2009 officers will be announced very soon via email.
The 2008-2009 CDDA membership form is included on the last 2 pages of this document. Feel free to copy and distribute to co-workers or RD friends who might be interested in joining. Remember to return your application with fee to Micca Donohoo, Treasurer, by July 22, 2008 if you would like to be included in the directory.

As a member of CDDA, you are entitled to attend both CDDA meetings and the Gateway Satellite group. There is a $10 charge for non-CDDA members at the Satellite meeting where participants earn at least 1 hour of CEU credit per meeting. Gateway Satellite meetings are scheduled during the months of September, November, February and April. |
